How do you define a decade? For Hoang Thuy Linh, her decade in music began when she debuted with Nhip Dap Giac Mo, and completed as she masterfully welcomed everyone into the world of her mind, and received critical acclaims as well as success along the way.

Hoang Thuy Linh was not the first in Pop to mix modern with ancient, yet it was her prodigious boldness to go the extra mile that earned her many prestigious titles and awards, most notably the Best Asian Artist Award from MAMA in 2019. The award was hot on the heels of a 6 months period that saw Hoang Thuy Linh taking Vpop by storm and relentlessly pushing the boundaries by infusing pentatonic influences into her brew, birthing HOANG – an impeccable, enchanting body of work showcasing Hoang Thuy Linh at her most audacious and confident as yet.

There is a delicate literary quality in Hoang Thuy Linh’s music that wonderfully weaves her distinct artistry with slick, trendy production and illuminates the diverse glory of femininity. Dedicating her music to spreading the message of self-love, Hoang Thuy Linh gives listeners a newfound faith in an artist who has demonstrated a capacity of serving brilliant, vibrant crafts. This is more than enough to keep us coming back from time to time as we eagerly watch this chameleon of Vpop continue to reach even higher peaks.

Three years later, her fourth album, LINK, is another empowering statement of purpose. A riff on her first name, the title also points to the invaluable relationships that have sustained her all these years. (Notably, it was released on the day of the Vu Lan festival, a ceremony honoring parents.) “Today I’m sitting here, fully healed,” she said in February. “I’m genuinely starting to feel love, to crave a connection with other souls.” On Link, Hoàng’s music evolves thanks to this deepening web of influences and the strong community of friends and collaborators around her.
